Incident with one of your drivers

I was traveling west bound on I-40 about 250 miles east of Flagstaff on Thursday, April 18 about 9:00 am. I was going about 78mph in the passing lane about to pass a semi when a Covenant truck cut me off in order to pass the same semi I was about to pass. The trailer # was R3392 and was definitely being driven in an exceptionally aggressive manner. I have great admiration and respect for truckers and know they provide a much needed service but this driver was doing a disservice to your company and fellow drivers. I think a reminder to the driver of the need to practice safe driving techniques would be an appropriate course of action and will hopefully curb further unsafe practices. Thank you for addressing this. Alan Sotzin sotzin@***.com

Unprofessional and disorganized. A massive waste of time.

The top brass might want to investigate the staff there at the Hutchins, TX terminal. Specifically Lee. I don't know if he's prejudice or not, but the way he talks to people is rude and unprofessional. Also, the way they operate is extremely disorganized and unprofessional. Me and my mother, both experienced drivers with HAZMAT endorsements, came here to drive as a team. We were told to bring everything we would need on the truck with us to the hotel we would be at for orientation. When you're told to bring everything, you'd think that means you're getting a truck as soon as you're done with orientation right? Well apparently they didn't have ANY trucks at the terminal so they told us we would be going to California via bus to get a truck there. They never mentioned that we wouldn't be getting a truck in Hutchins until AFTER we were completely done with orientation and hired as drivers. Why tell us to bring all of our things if you have no trucks at that terminal? We told Lee that going by bus would not be possible as we brought everything we would need on the truck with us. We asked could we get a rental car instead so we could take all of our stuff with us and get it on the truck. We were told no at first, then they apparently changed their minds and said they would get us one. We went back to the hotel expecting to have a rental car the next day. Unfortunately, that didn't happen either. Lee contacted my mother and apparently changed his mind again and said we wouldn't be getting a rental car. Instead we could get on a truck with another experienced driver who also was in that orientation, take a load to somewhere near Chattanooga and then go there to get a truck instead. At first we weren't going to do that because there was no way that three people with all of their stuff would fit on one truck. My mother contacted Lee again and asked if we could get a cab and take some of our stuff home. We live about 20 miles away from the Hutchins terminal in Arlington, TX. We then suggested that the driver could come and pick us up from our home there as trucks are easily able to drive through and park on the side of the road there. No can do for that either. Lee hung up and contacted us a little later and told us that he would get us a cab home but he didn't think that "we would be a good fit" there at Covenant. My mother told him we didn't need him to get us a cab and that was that. We never even got started with the company and ended up returning home. This whole process was a waste of time for us and Covenant just lost a team of experienced HAZMAT drivers that would get along. All because of the disorganization and unprofessionalism of the Hutchins, TX terminal. Again, you all might want to look at replacing the staff at the Hutchins terminal because they're costing you all good drivers.

Harrasment

I'm sure all drivers are not {{Redacted}} like the one I met I will be filing a law suit the end of this week if he is still working there at Covenant. I will not be put through what I endured without consequences. He was very inappropriate and slandered me racially. should not be allowed in the work place anyplace in my opinion. I will follow up to see if the company will honor my complaint. I am adamant I will follow through with a law suit too many women are subjected to insult and injury by men who think they can do what ever they want to us.

Stay away from Covenant Transportation

My husband and I are currently over the road truck drivers. We have experience after being with three companies. All companies have issues and the biggest issues I find they have is with the fleet managers. Not to just single Covenant out but these guys and girls who answer the phones claiming to want to help you and are there for the drivers when they have questions is a freaking joke. Covenant, during the day time Monday through Friday, those fleet managers actually work and you get the best response from. You may still be frustrated and have to request things several times, but that is nothing compared to how the night crew and the weekend crew act. It is unreal how some of these people talk to you, their response time, and their willingness to help you is awful. If I was a CEO and my customer service department treated people in this manner there would be high amounts of people unemployed. These so called fleet managers are so horrible when you ask to speak to a supervisor, they will pass the phone to their neighbor or someone else in the building to act like a supervisor, and the person they pass the phone to just cooberates what the other person tells you instead of defusing the situation. They are so dumb, they do not realize that in orientation, the orientators give you a list of all the directors and supervisors in the company. It is sickening and unchristian like how they act. This company reels you in by acting as if they are a Christian based company full of morals, they have good freight, miles, and pay more, all lies. My husband and I are supposedly making three cents more with this company but our paychecks say otherwise. Our last company had freight gallore, even during the winter months, if this company has freight, I can't tell. They have a problem paying you back for simple things like scales and the whole Christian thing is a crock of ***. What is so christian about calling the police on someone and telling them we are trying to steal the trailer because you want to give our load away to one of your buddies in the company? Does that sound Christian like to you? There is so much I can say about Covenant but this should be enough if you are trying to make a decision about coming to work for them, don't. If you do, I will pray for you, like a pray for these devils.

This company wouldn't get my fiance home.

My fiance left the 10th of June 2008 for orientation. By the 8th of July they had not given him any home time which broke up our relationship. They also keep asking him to break DOT regulations by trying to keep him on the road for more than 14 hrs. I love this man dearly and I want him home but that isn't going to happen because they won't give him home time. Their pay is awful and his first pay check was 59.00. The easiest way to break up a relationship is to go to work for Covenant Transport.

Well when doing Covenant Transportation they offer you a legal services for like $8 week which covers 1/3 the cost for legal fees for DIVORCE, ALIMONY, CHILD SUPPORT, CUSTODY, etc. That should say enough about that lol

The 10 th of june til july 8th?! You broke up over less than a month?

Training is at least 5 weeks and the trainer ain't gonna take hometime during it. Also it's otr and any company that isn't doing home resets is looking for at least 5-6 weeks out. They can get you home more often but you won't get run much. Either go local or regional.

Otr isn't an easy life and he needs to decide between the career or you. Good luck

I know that I'm pretty late but I have the same situation that you do...and I couldn't agree more... Covenant is horrible...But they'll never care about the marriages they break up and the families that they crush...

It's really sad... :sigh
